Starting this new year, Bonphul Air Products is splitting its business operations into two groups: (a) Product Sales and (b) Consulting Services.

The Product Sales Group would be focused on indirect business through a nation-wide partner network, while the Consulting Services Group would be focused on direct business from institutional customers. Explaining the rationale, Bonphul CEO Prodyut Bora said that there are two reasons why the company has split up business operations.

“The first reason is scalability. There is a limit to how far we can increase product distribution through a direct sales team. As a start-up company we had to demonstrate proof-of-concept, and we did that by building a credible customer-base directly. But now the time for scaling up the business has come. And that can be possible only through a nation-wide network of committed partners.”

“The second reason is service-demand by institutional customers. Most of them are not keen on buying a box, rather they want a solution to their problems. Moreover, they have several generations of legacy equipment installed in their premises, and they would like Bonphul to integrate its solutions to their existing infrastructure. As much as this provides new business opportunities, this also calls for a different set of capability development. Hence a separate business group for such large big-ticket customers.”

The Product Sales Group would be headed by Arup Majumdar, while Consulting Services would be led by Brototi Sengupta.
